Check Fraud

The Writing Process
How should you approach this paper? Laws are society’s attempt to solve its problems. You could explore a topic through research, identify a problem (harassment, crime, scams on the internet, etc), discuss solutions, and evaluate the solutions to see if they are effective. Make suggestions of your own. I want to know what you think. Most topics will follow this format but you are not bound to it.
What am I looking for in a paper? I will grade based on content, organization, readability, and grammatical correctness.
Content includes your ideas as well as your research.
Organization includes external transitions (section to section) and internal transitions (paragraph to paragraph and sentence to sentence).
Readability means how well the paper flows. Avoid wordiness and the passive voice. Don’t start your sentences with "it is" or "there are."
Grammatical correctness includes spelling and other grammar errors including subject-verb agreement. After you write your paper, leave it in a drawer for a day then read each word out loud. You will find most of your errors. Please write your paper in third person. You should always avoid using personal pronouns such as you and I in a researched paper. To state your opinion, you could use a phrase like "the author posits".
Basically, write five to seven pages about a topic you are interested in. Edit your finished draft at least twice (once for organization and once for grammar mistakes). Your paper should include an outline, five to seven edited pages with parenthetical references or footnotes, and a list of your sources (a works cited page or a bibliography). Your paper should be double spaced and Times New Roman 12 point font with 1 inch margins.
Research and Documentation
Sources
At least seven references are required for this paper. Please use at least one Internet source and one hardcopy source (a book or journal article, for example) in your paper. I recommend going to a library and researching your topic there. I also strongly recommend that you use the Wall Street Journal as a reference. Find several books on your topic. You also have access to the Park Virtual Library (located in the Webliography under ?other resources?). (Students deployed to remote locations like Iraq are not required to use a hardcopy source as they are not able to go to the library. Please note that you are in Iraq, Korea, etc. in your bibliography so I won?t count off points.)

What is APA Style?
For writing tips and information on the APA style, try the Writing Resources category in the Webliography.

Plagiarism
Do not plagiarize (copying or using the work of others without giving them credit). Use parenthetical references (APA style) within your paper to document all quotations, minor details (for example, statistics), and opinions that are not yours. However, do not document your own opinions. In the past, several students have copied their entire papers from the Internet. These students received a 0 on the assignment and were reported to the Academic Director.

Avoid long quotations. If you?re going to quote from a source verbatim, limit that to 10% of the paper (about ? of a page if the body of the paper is five pages). Longer quotes can be placed in an appendix at the end of the paper. The appendix would not count as part of the body of the paper.

How do I document sources from the Internet?
See the Webliography category "Writing Resources" to find information about citing web sources.

Warning: Any paper submitted without documentation will receive a grade of zero.

Business Ethics

Essay: complete an essay of 2,500 words on ‘due diligence’ and supply chain responsibilities, relating to big clothing companies and the disasters in the garment industry in Bangladesh.

Outline the issue in the introduction.

It is important that you show your understanding of business ethics as a human interactive practice. Hence you must provide examples for:
-result based arguments
-duties based arguments
-relations based arguments

You must at least provide one for each approach that can be used to campaign against the
organization, and then counter these. Hence in your essay, you will first ‘put on the hat’ of a campaigning NGO, and then ‘the hat’ of the CEO of the corporation responding to the NGO claims.

Try to be as clear as possible: make reference to facts. Try to be as concrete as possible: make reference to concrete initiatives or regulation).

Include your own opinion in a separate section towards the conclusion.

Marketing Research

Sustainable Packaging Survey

The bottled water brand Evian is planning to introduce a more sustainable alternative to their traditional plastic water bottle, i.e. a plastic bottle partly made from plant-based organic material. A number of companies are now offering their soft drink products in sustainable packaging, e.g. Coca Cola, Volvic.

The marketing manager of Evian wants to get an insight into the general environmental concern of bottled water consumers as well as their attitudes and behaviour towards ecological packaging. The primary purpose of the online survey was to ascertain which bottled water brands customers buy, what customers take into account when choosing bottled water, their general environmental concern, their emotions evoked when drinking from a plant-based bottle and their behavioural intention. In September 2013, a questionnaire was mailed to a random sample of 1,000 bottled water customers drawn from a representative online customer panel. To increase the return rate, a small prize draw of Amazon vouchers was used. The SPSS data set which is named ‘MNBM43_Marketing_Research_Sustainable Packaging_n=312.sav’ can be found on Blackboard.

The data analysis section of your research report should provide the following information:

1. Provide a short demographic profile of the respondents.

2. Provide the key findings for the survey, e.g. Q1, 2, 4, 5, 6 using descriptive statistics only (e.g. frequencies, means).

3. Analyse whether demographics (e.g. gender, qualification etc.) have any significant effects on their favourite bottled water brand (Q1). (Note: type of analyses will depend on the level of measurement of the variables)

4. Carry out three factor analyses separately for the following variables: emotions (all items of Q7), beliefs (all items of Q8) and behavioural intention (all items of Q9). Interpret and name the new factors and test the reliability for each new factor. Report the results for these. Compute a new variable for each factor using the mean (e.g. means calculated for the new factors) for further analysis.

5. Analyse whether demographics (e.g. gender, age, etc.) have any significant effects on behavioural intention (the new factor calculated from all items of Q9). (Note: type of analyses will depend on the level of measurement of the variables)

6. Is there a possibility to predict behavioural intention on the basis of environmental concern (use overall variable called ‘env_concern’), emotions and beliefs (use the newly computed variables for this purpose)? If yes, how good is the prediction? What is a better predictor of behavioural intention – emotions or beliefs?

To support your findings, you must use graphical/tabular presentation which is most appropriate to the information being presented.

Summarise the key results from the analysis and give recommendations to the marketing manager of Evian on how to promote the new sustainable packaging, i.e. plantbottle and who to target on the basis of the results of this survey.

Requirements:

You are asked to:
* choose appropriate data analysis techniques, justify your choice and interpret the results.
* provide results and interpret findings (use appropriate tables and graphs in your report to illustrate the results clearly).
* structure them in a brief marketing research report form which should look professional.

Your assignment is a research report and as such its contents should mirror those found in commercial marketing research reports. The specific section headings will be (i) executive summary, (ii) introduction & methodology, (iii) research questions with data analysis, and (iv) conclusions & recommendation.

A table of contents and appendices with the SPSS outputs used are required. Marking criteria provided on the last page.
Notes on Style

The report should be typed using double-spaced Times New Roman size 12 Font on A4 paper with one inch margins. The main body of the report should not exceed 20 pages (excluding appendices, table of contents, title page etc.).

A table of contents and appendices with data tables and the used SPSS outputs are also required.

All sources must be correctly identified

A History of Florence 1200-1575, by John M. Najemy, must be used. Please make sure that you actually read the related pages in the book and cite them when necessary, so there is no outright contradiction. Feel free to include other published/academic sources as the writer sees fit.

Please choose one from the following three topics.

1. The Humanist Renaissance evolved in the context of a power struggle between the popolo and a traditional elite known as the grandi. Outline the conflicting views and values of the popolo and grandi of Florence in the thirteenth and early fourteenth centuries; discuss how these differing visions were reflected in the history of the first popolo.

2. What gave rise to Florence’s second popolo? How did the Ordinances of Justice structure Florentine politics? Explain why Florentine politics again devolved into violent civil conflict despite the firm foundation for guild republicanism provided by the Ordinances of Justice.

3. Discuss how the Medici family managed to dominate Florence from 1434 to 1492, explaining why the 1433 attempt to exclude them from power was such a failure.
