Return to some of the information provided early in the semester to review these conventions.This essay is worth more than other assignments, and there are steps to complete before the essay is due. To qualify for the revision, you need to submit all steps of the process on time, including the peer editing. The initial bibliography is due October 31 and represents an important step in a research process. You begin by finding out what is available on the topic. You should read all the items that appear on your bibliography, but you may not end up using and citing all of them in your final essay. You should begin any research project with more potential sources than you might need. List eight sources on your bibliography (MLA form). In the final essay, you need to cite only five. Use the sandwich quotation format for quoting or paraphrasing all the sources. At least two sources must be from the Howard University Library databases. The citation should reflect that database!I have enabled Safe Assign in the Essay 3 area to allow at least 3 submissions. The purpose is for you to check the originality reports generated by Safe Assign. You should submit your drafts before the due date, wait a few minutes, and then return and look at the originality report. If problems are indicated, check them carefully. Dont immediately panic if the report says a certain amount is plagiarized. It could be picking up your citations. It might also be finding a section that you intended to paraphrase but simply did not paraphrase enough. Use the report as a way to revise before I look at your final essays. Because checking for plagiarism is so important, I will not accept essays not submitted in Blackboard. You must submit there and check the Safe Assign report. (You might begin by looking at colleges like Evergreen College). 3. Coates obviously loved the time he spent abroad.

How can the problem of violence in schools be addressed?4. Coates notes that most of elementary, middle, and high school seemed useless to him. Coates writes a great deal about history and obviously considers the study of black history and history in general important. Do students know too little history? How can the teaching of history be improved?6. Coates experience with the Baltimore City Public Schools was one of fear and distraction. He felt his intellectual curiosity was stifled. Is that feeling common in large public schools systems? Why? How can it be addressed?
