Dietary Analysis Report

Food diaries will be kept for a period of 3 days. The 3 days will be analysed manually using The Composition of Foods and Food Portion Sizes textbooks and the derived data will be used for the writing up of the experimental report.
The report will be 1,500 (±10%) words excluding the references and it will include:

INTRODUCTION
 Definitions
 Outline macronutrients
 Outline fluid
 Aim/Rationale for the experiment

METHODS: OF DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
 Participant characteristics
 Outline method of estimating energy requirements
 Outline method of dietary collection
 Need to be sufficiently analytical.
 Use appendices: diet diary analysis
 Describe testing procedures using past tense, 3rd person
 Personal information is confidential- donot revealed true identity of the participant

RESULTS:
 Use an appropriate range of tables, graphs, charts etc to present findings (energy intakes, CHO, FAT, PRO and fluid,
and alcohol if consumed)
 Compare recommended to actual intakes that you calculated
 Tables and figures should be numbered and have a title
 A small paragraph should refer to your tables and figures and what you see (only basic interpretation, do not
attempt to discuss your findings in the results section).

DICSUSSSION OF THE FINDINGS AND CONCLUSION:
 Interpretation and explanation of the results based on your literature review regarding the macronutrient and
fluid composition/functions
 Relate to health/performance
 Discuss whether energy intakes match requirements
 Compare to the literature
 Discuss the limitations of your study

CONCLUSION:
 What are your overall recommendations for this person’s diet?
 How might you go about modifying your diet to make it healthier? Make specific suggestions that you would
consider trying.

REFERENCES:
 Appropriate use of references within the different sections of the report using the Leeds Metropolitan University
Harvard style of referencing.

-appendices: to include at least your diet diary analysis

-Characters used should be Arial size 12.
-The text should be double spaced.
-Margins should be 1 inch (2.54cm)
