Many children face special issues that impact everyday life, whether it is within themselves, their families, or their environment. The PMHNP must be sensitive to these many issues that children and adolescents are faced with during important developmental years.
In this Discussion, you select a special population and analyze the psychological issues that the population faces. You also address the assessment and treatment needs of the population.

Introduction
According to New South Wales government health website, Cannabis is the most commonly used illegal drug in Australia (New South Wales government health, 2017). This report is going to look into why marijuana usage should be legalised in Australia and why many feel it can help people with chronic pain. This is going to look into the public persona of it being the gateway drug. This article is going look into the public views and see if they have support for this drug. Cannabis but commonly known as marijuana Is made from the dried flowers and leaves of a plant called Cannabis Sativa. Cannabis looks like dried herbs or tea at it may contain seeds or twigs. The common colour that is associated green but it could also grey and brown.
The common ways that people consume marijuana is in hand-rolled cigarettes called joints or in water pipes called bongs. But some people prefer it mixed in their food, for example, like in cakes and cookies. There are many way cannabis can affect you but this is depended on the amount that is in taken or how frequently you use it or the strength of the drug. Other affects how you take it like in joint, bong or in food. This drug can impact you in those ways like poor concentration specifically focusing on one particular thing and ignore all other things. Cannabis can make you unusually happy talk and laugh more than usual and have bad balance, feel hungry have dry, red eyes and loss of memory. Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the chemical in cannabis that makes you feel all this symptom (New South Wales government health, 2017).
Australia was first introduced to the word marijuana by the US Bureau of Narcotics via a commonly used newspaper call the diggers Smiths weekly, in 1938. In those days people were labelling it has the evil sex drug. The sensational discussions in the tabloid saw the plan cannabis Sativa banned in Australia although it was well-known and widely used in Australian for many decades. In 1964 a massive of wild cannabis was found growing alongside the hunter river between Singleton and Maitland in New South Wales. This is where the explosion in marijuana use in Australian began. This was fuelled by the many soldiers returning on rest and recreation leave from Vietnam. It was the young baby-boomer who were jumping on the pot train. The generation that was born after the second world war was overwhelmingly linked with pot smoking (Marijuana Australiana, 2018).
Many have the idea that cannabis is a gateway drug to heavier drugs. The National Institute on Drug Abuse finds that there is no correlation that links marijuana uses to getting hook on harder drugs. Saying in the article the majority of people who use marijuana do not go on to use other, “harder” substances. There are many factors that you have to take into consideration when it comes to marijuana being proceeded has a gateway drug like the persons social environment, are also critical in a persons risk for drug use (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2018).
Many Australians have changing views on marijuana used, this change is especially expressed in the government with Mary media outlet reporting that the use of medical cannabis could become very legal in the country. New South Wales government and the federal government have supported this idea. With clinical trial to start as soon as possible. The Roy Morgan Research put a question out where they ask the public if the use of marijuana should be legalised in the county. They find that the number of people that are in support of marijuana has grown from 26.8 (2004) to (2014) 31.8 (2014). This jump in support has been demonstrated in the 65+ age which has risen from 16.9% to 25.5% that a 50% growth rate. The support for cannabis use has grown in the last decade across the all age group (Roy Morgan, 2015). This jump in support is filled with the many health benefits this drug can provide for example cannabis can be used to treat people with Epilepsy. Clinical trials have shown that CBD (cannabinol) has worked with great success seeing the reduction of seizures in children by 40 percent compared nice percent in placebo. Cannabis is known to help people with chronic pain as it was express by Dr Richard Chye when said: A lot of patients tell me cannabis helps them forget that they’re in bad pain and makes them feel better,” (Sherden, 2016). The use of marijuana for chronic pain like the neuropathic pain is supported by high-quality evidence. With many trials that were conducted included 325 patients examined chronic pain, and 396 patients investigated neuropathic pain. and 12 trials that included 1600 patients focused on multiple sclerosis. This clinical trial has shown that marijuana or cannabinoids may be efficacious for these indications. This just shows that marijuana can be used for a mass indication which has a high quality of evidence to support their treatment. The Permanent GME Funding for Teaching Health Centers says that Physicians should educate patients about medical marijuana to ensure that it is used appropriately and that patients will benefit from its use (JAMA, 2018).
Conclusion
This article has discovered that many people in Australia have changing views about cannabis. This article has discovered that the change in law may be in the near future with the help of clinical trial people have now realised the medical benefit of the drug and the many lives it can help. This is demonstrated that I should be allowed to help many people in Australia.
