Paper instructions:
2. This is NOT a summary of literary work or a biography of the author. It is not based upon student opinion. Instead, this is a collection of literary criticism,scholarly analysis of the topic written by experts in the field of literature or linguistics. You may bring in research appropriate to your topic, perhaps in the field of history, religion, or psychology.
3. The required length is 7 pages including outline and works cited page. The final draft must be double spaced and in MLA format.
4. Internal/parenthical citations are required. You must have five different sources cited internally in the paper. Normally, the internal citation will consist of of the author’s last name and the page number in parenthesis. These internal citations must match or be parallel to the sources listed on the works cited page.
5. Students should photo copy or print the articles to be turned in. The entire article should be printed. If using a book, magazine, or journal, do not forget to copy the publication information at the front also. This will include the publishing company name, location, and the copyright. The research paper may then be verified by these sources.
6. The research paper is similar in organization and structure to an essay. I should include an outline, an introductory paragraph with the thesis as the final sentence. It should include at least three body paragraphs, each beginning with a transition and clear topic sentence.
7. The entire introduction should and thesis must be original. Do NOT use quotations and research in the first paragraph. All topic sentences and transitional sentences should be student written. The entire conclusion should student generated, and like the introductory paragraph, should not contain research.
8. Do not use Cliff Notes, Spark Notes, Monarch Notes, Wikipedia, or general encyclopedia!
