Timing:

Within in the span of 90 minutes, students will write an essay that fulfills the following assignment. Students may plan and outline ahead of time, but writing the essay should occur within the allotted 90 minutes. Proofreading should occur within the 90 minutes, as well. The timed element of this assignment helps to build time management skills.

Assignment Prompt:

Out of the 7 studies and numerous findings presented in the documentary, identify 3 studies and/or findings you find most interesting and: 1) summarize them, 2) evaluate them and 3) respond to them personally.

Required Length: 300-500 words (longer is OK, shorter in not)

Write in Word and then CTRL C / CTRL V into Moodle box

Proofread before submission – points deducted for errors and typos

Questions to be answered (these are a starting point, feel free to expand):

Who conducted the study or discovered the finding?
Who / what was studied, exactly?
How was the study conducted?
What were the findings of the study? (i.e. stress leads to clogged arteries)
What are the implications of the study and/or findings? (i.e. stress can actually lead to heart attacks, due to clogged arteries)
For each of the studies/findings — Evaluation:

What is significant about these studies/findings?
What have they added to our medical and scientific knowledge?
What knowledge have they modified or updated?
What social influence do these findings have?
Personal response (to specific studies / findings or overall):

Why are these studies interesting to you on a personal level?
In what situations have you seen these findings at play?
How can you apply the findings to help you in your own battle against stress?
Conclusion:

How can this information help people in contemporary society? What programs / initiatives, if any, could be implemented to help with our stress epidemic?
Based on the information presented, what would you suggest people do to counteract stress? Explain how the research supports your solutions.
What new directions would you like to see this research go in now?
