Select ONE assignment from the following list of four:

1. In module 2 a number of different methods for future studies are discussed. If you were asked to develop background information to be used in a future-oriented strategic planning exercise for your own organization, which method(s) would you use, why and how would you go about developing the information requested?
OR
2. “Much of what is called futures studies is fairly superficial.” (see reading 2.2 Slaughter – Beyond the Mundane). Critically discuss this statement, using the argumentation and concepts developed in the readings for module 2, in particular readings 2.1 – 2.3.
OR
3. In module 3 the phenomenon of resistance to change is extensively discussed. From your own experience, select a major change that took place in your organization, analyse why particular (groups of) employees demonstrated a resistance to change, and critically discuss the actions taken by your organization’s management to overcome this. In doing this, make sure you refer to the relevant readings and go beyond merely describing change in your organization.
OR
4. Taking into account the arguments presented in readings 3.5 – 3.7, how would you define effective leadership for your own organization? What qualities would you consider to be of prime importance and why? And do they differ from what is discussed in the literature? If so, why is this the case? If not, why not?
