Option 1

You are teaching a group of twelve, multi-national 8-10 year-olds. They are pre-intermediate level taking part in a 6 week summer school. They have two English classes in the morning (1 x grammar or vocabulary and 1 x skills (e.g. reading, writing, speaking or listening), and sports or activities in the afternoon. Use your imagination when creating this hypothetical class and provide assumptions relating to where your lesson fits in the overall course, what has already been studied and what will be studied after your lesson etc.

Option 2

You are teaching a monolingual group of ten 6-year-olds. They are beginners in a local primary school and have English classes three times a week. They have been in this class for 2 months and are beginning to learn and use the alphabet. The focus of this skills lesson is ‘writing’. Again, use your imagination, provide assumptions and justify your choices.
