Question 1) From your study of the key terms and concepts in the study of lecture summary notes in Unit One, pick out 3 key points in each of the problematic false ethical philosophies and worldviews plaguing our culture today, known as A) materialism and B) secular humanism. This means 6 all total!! 3 for each of the two theories!! After naming and discussing these key points, give an example of where you see these false views, either as a whole or in part, prevalent in your own situation, at work, family or community.
Question 2) From your reading of the meaning of Moral Relativism, as defined in the Key terms and concepts in lecture summary notes, name and discuss 3 key points that help us understand the meaning of this false ethical theory. This means 3 key points for this false theory of moral relativism. Where do you see this false ethical theory of moral relativism operating in our culture today, or even your work place, today? Be specific, quoting from the lecture summary notes, as you apply them to something you see going on around us/you today.
Question 3) From reading chapters 2 and 3 in Theology for Beginners, what did you learn there* to help you see why both materialism and secular humanism are wrong in their views of the following:
A) the nature/make-up of the human person
B) the Reality of God
C) the spiritual and supernatural realms of existence [HINT: spiritual is a term that refers to that which is greater than the realm of matter, i.e., what we can see merely with our 5 senses. Supernatural is a term that refers to God, i.e., that which is above all that exists, because God is the Uncreated Reality by Whose Power all that exists comes into being.]
* Be specific in naming and quoting ideas from our reading that helped you see more about the distinct problems in these false ethical philosophies of materialism and secular humanism.

In order to continue our look at the reality of God’s existence and lay our foundation for discussing who the human person is, as we enter into our consideration of what constitutes a good, ethical choice, our assignments this week included a video on the thought of C. S. Lewis regarding what is called Intelligent Design. Intelligent Design points out exactly why the universe, including the human person, cannot have evolved as a random process of natural selection propelled by material forces within nature itself. Rather, Intelligent Design shows us with the use of our reason and logic that we can observe for ourselves that only a Divine, All-Powerful, Intelligent Agent and Person could have created the entire universe, including the human person.
Question 1) From your viewing of the assigned video #1, C.S. Lewis and Intelligent Design, isolate 3 different and distinct arguments that C.S. Lewis makes that point to the fact that the entire universe had to have been created by a Divine Intelligent Agent, Who is above and outside of the universe itself. After you have isolated these 3 arguments, explain in detail, quoting from the video, how Lewis arrives at these conclusions. Please number your 3 arguments and their explanations as Argument #1, Argument #2, and Argument #3.
Question 3) How would you use the content of videos #1 and #3 to further our critique of the false ideas found in the 3 approaches to human life in our culture today known as materialism, moral relativism and secular humanism, according to the definitions I have given you for these in the lecture summary notes for Unit One above? Really put on your thinking cap here!! — and give us some good “beef”!!Please watch these videos
