These sources are intended to provide the evidence to establish the context of your work as well as to support the argument and conclusion of your essay. Analysis/Interpretation: Is your thesis statement debatable? Does it fully address the question? Do your summaries offer a concise but comprehensive view of the articles you are summarising? Are the articles relevant to your topic? Your outline should identify and engage with the main issues raised by the question. You should illustrate how you will support your position with evidence drawn from your research. Presentation/Structure: Your outline should be structured logically. Your outline should have a clear thesis statement that addresses the question. Your structure should indicate a clear, defined direction of your argument. With regard to presentation, ensure that your sources are referenced according to the School of History referencing system (Chicago). Your expression must be clear and unambiguous with attention to accuracy and conciseness. Check you have followed the instructions as to what an Annotated Bibliography and Essay plan should look like. Citations/ Referencing: Your analysis must be appropriately referenced using the School of History referencing system. This can be found in the School of History Essay Writing Guide which is available on the courses Wattle site. Your referencing must be consistent in both the footnotes and the reference list/bibliography. You must explicitly acknowledge sources, including the page number or page range, of facts, including statistics, as well as direct quotes and the sources you paraphrase from and/or use to inform your analysis.
