Drawing on the course content and additional research, discuss the significance of wine tourism and/or gastronomic tourism to one selected regional tourism destination in Australia.

Based on this
analysis, and drawing from the concept of creative tourism, suggest complimentary product (or
products) that enhances the existing wine tourism offering at the discussed destination.
To reflect the above structure your project will consists of two distinctive sections:
Part 1: Analysis of wine tourism destination
In this section your report must address the following elements:
a) analysis of specific pull factors relevant to the analysed region, linked with a discussion
explaining the popularity of the region as a wine destination;
b) analysis of the concept of terroir and its significance to the regional destinations. This section
should consider the terroir of the selected wine region and analyse how it contributes to the
overall popularity of the destination;
c) well-informed summary of key strengths and weakness of the analysed region as a wine tourism
destination.
Part B: Creative tourism strategy
In part B of the report your focus should be on developing specific strategies that are consistent
with the idea of creative tourism, and which would enhance the existing destination product. This
section should include:
a) definition of creative tourism, including a brief discussion of key aspects related to creative
tourism, as discussed in relevant literature;
b) proposed creative tourism strategies for the analysed tourism destination e.g. these could be
related to the food & wine offering or be an entirely new type of experience suggested by you,
and;
c) based on section c of Part A and the content of Part B, suggest recommendations for future
development of the destination that will allow it to stay creative.
Note: Part A and Part B of the report are weighted equally each part accounts for 50% of the
overall mark. In structuring your report, you must address the specific sections and subsections
from Parts A and B. It is suggested that your report should be divided into the following sections:
1. Title page
2. Introduction: brief introduction about the region you have selected including key facts
about the place and the current role that tourism and wine plays at the destination
3. Part A

6. References: Harvard UniSA referencing system (not included in the overall word limit)

support the ideas and required information
You are encouraged to use a wide range of research material, including books, academic journals,
newspapers, magazines, videos and your own observations of and reflections about the selected
wine region (if visited). Students must use at least 8 relevant references (includes 4 relevant
refereed journal articles). Effective paraphrasing skills are essential you should write all sentences
in your own words (except for the definitions of key concepts); long direct quotes should not be
used.
You are encouraged to use images to demonstrate key points made in your discussion paper e.g.
photographs can be used to illustrate specific pull factors of the destination and/or to capture the
