Critical Incident Exploration #1: Answer the questions below in 4 pages maximum. Use 12pt. font, one-inch margins, and double-space your paper. Place your assignment in the Coursework-Assignments by Sunday 11:55pm Eastern. Please type your name, assignment and course number at the top of your paper. •    Write a two (2) to three (3) page memorandum (respective agency format)
o    Acting as a Command Level Officer, brief your agency on a critical incident which just occurred and make recommendations on how to respond to the media based on your readings for this week and in particular concentrating on the Gillingham article on Public Relations Management and the Critical Incident Management text.
o    Event will be of the student’s design (e.g.: Active Shooter, Earthquake- or other natural disaster, WMD Response, Officer Involved Shooting)
•    Write a one (1) page press release for the media regarding the above event
o    Acting as Incident Commander’s designee- Craft a media response to the above event
o    Utilize your respective agency’s format

Place your assignment in the Coursework-Assignments by Sunday 11:55pm Eastern.  Please type your name, assignment and course number at the top of your paper.
Examine your agency’s Critical Incident Stress Reduction program.  Describe your agency’s program, determine its completeness and sufficiency based on your readings for this week, and recommend program areas to sustain or improve for your agency leaders.

POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

10 Page PowerPoint Presentation (40 Pts.; 10% of grade).  Incorporating crisis theory, the student will prepare a ten slide (10) power point presentation on how the events of 911 shaped the response of law enforcement and fire service leaders to major events.

FINAL PAPER: (95 pts.; 24% of grade).  The Final Examination for this course is 8-page paper. Write an eight (8) page paper reviewing your respective agency’s Emergency Operations Plan drawing from your text and other sources.  Suggest points to analyze (but not limited to) include:
o    EOC Operations
o    Communication during the Critical Incident
o    Utilization of Volunteers
o    Deployment of Personnel
o    Interagency Cooperation
