Are Black professionals in sports racially silenced?

1st Amendment Double Standard; Are Black professionals in sports racially silenced? You will consider the implications of the challenge Black professionals in sports face when trying to speak their truth about racism in America. Lebron James, The Kaepernick Effect, Jemele Hill and others have all been vilified by President Donald Trump. This has caused examination of Blacks exercising their 1st amendment rights vs Whites when discussing racial issues. https://thinkprogress.org/national-anthem-sports-protest-tracker-kaepernick-284ff1d1ab3e/ Side A: Black professionals in sports should have the right to speak their mind on politics without the threat of career loss. Black sports professionals are still U.S. citizens and have a 1st amendment right to the freedom of speech just like any other citizen. Their careers/livelihoods should not be threatened every time they speak, simply because they display a political opinion. Black athletes have traditionally withstood racism on many fronts and were blackballed for speaking out. Recent events such as the Kaepernick Effect and Lebron James, Jemele Hill tweets have forced a conversation related to career jeopardy for Blacks when politically speaking, vs Whites who make similar statements with little or no career related consequences. Side B: Black professionals in sports are paid a lot of money to entertain their fans and shut up about politics or other controversial issues. Shut Up And Dribble. Americans enjoy their sports as a leisure activity and do not wish to have politics or other controversial issues thrown in their face during a game or sports broadcast like ESPN Sportscenter. They should also keep their opinions to themselves on social media (twitter). They are paid for their sporting expertise, not their thoughts. They could cost their company/team money for causing controversy, so it is understandable that their bosses seek to limit their speech on volatile issues. Just do your job and keep your racial/political thoughts to yourself. Its not fair, but they are paid enough money to be silenced/censored. Those who break the rules know the risk of being fired and blackballed in the industry. White privilege is still prevalent and Black should expect a 1st amendment double standard. Point 3 Quote/Cite the statistic or opinion/anecdote Source: o Your explanation of the point (1 paragraph in addition to quote/statistic)? (example:) Point 1 American Whites make up the largest number of poor people in the US 2016 Source: https://www.census.gov/content/dam/Census/library/publications/2015/demo/p60-252.pdf o The stereotype, of the largest ethnic group who represent the poor in America, is Black; However the actual ethnic group that receives the majority of government aid to the poor are White, according to the current census data 2016. The data/statistic is relevant not only for factual clarity, but the stereotype contributes to the stigmatization of Black Americans and the systematic/racial inequality based on that stereotype. Images such as the Black welfare queen, Black Americans as lazy and Black American men living off the system not wanting to work, serves to hinder the Black community when seeking equal services, equal treatment and protection under U.S. law without racial biases and the burden of White privilege.
