Describe how and why a religious believer might appeal to scripture to help settle problems or establish orthodox beliefs within his or her religion.

Also note some problems with appeals to scripture. In general, do you think a religion is made stronger or weaker with emphasis on the authority of a written text? Chapter 5 question Look at the example in the textbook regarding literature about trees. Then, from your own knowledge, come up with two similar examples and clarify the difference between writing for explanation or instruction and writing a poem. Note why reading for the right language is important in your example. Chapter 6 question Describe some real or imagined disaster and use two different religious explanations of why such evil occurs. Connect each explanation to a concept of Ultimate Being and evaluate both views for logical consistency and explanatory value. Defend which view you think best helps to explain the human condition.

What do you believe to be the most important component of IDEA and why?

All components of IDEA are very important however if I had to choose I would say Appropriate Evaluation is one of the most important components of IDEA. I feel that is is the first step in obtaining the other areas of IDEA. If a student is struggling its important to get the proper care and evaluation to determine if the student has a disability . There are certain aspects that put a student in this category of disability and if the student is determined to have a disability everything else such as parent involvement, IEP, LRE, and safeguards follow. Sometimes evaluating can be difficult as a parent does not believe their child falls in the category of disability in which it is important to have proper evaluation to ensure that the procedure is followed and it can be determined properly. Appropriate evaluation includes all areas of suspected disability, it is completed By a team of evaluators knowledgeable and trained in the use of the tests and other evaluation materials they use, Employing a variety of sound evaluation materials and procedures selected and administered so as not to be racially or culturally discriminatory, Without subjecting a child to unnecessary tests and assessments, Including the gathering of relevant information from a variety of sources, Based on information that is useful instructionally in planning for the childs education and An appropriate evaluation provides information to be used to determine the childs eligibility for special education and related services and the educational needs of the child (The Six Main Principles of IDEA ). The evaluation process is taken very seriously and involved a great and certified team to help a child be properly diagnosed.
