Please read: Christian Worldview: A Students Guide, by Philip Graham Ryken. Additional books on worldviews are in the SDC Library and the SDC HS310 Library Reserve section. The book review portion should a minimum of 2 pages long (3 max), and the worldview analysis section should be a minimum of 2 pages long (3 max). You are required to use Chapter 1 (minimum) of Love Your God With All of Your Mind by J.P. Moreland in your worldview assessment or application section. The application section will be a minimum of 1 page long (2 pages max). Footnotes and a bibliography are required for this paper following SDC/APA format guidelines. The Bible and at least two (2) additional sources shall be included in addition to Love Your God With All Your Mind by J.P. Moreland.
For a critical, essay-length book review, the following elements (paper requirements) should be included:
a. the bibliographic citation for the book;
b. an opening statement that ought to peak the readers interest in the book under review
c. a section that points to the authors main intentions;
d. a section that discusses the authors ideas and the books thesis within a scholarly perspective. This should be a critical assessment of the book within the larger scholarly discourse;
e. if you found errors in the book, point the major ones and explain their significance. Explain whether they detract from the thesis and the arguments made in the book;
f. include information about the author’s affiliation and authority, as well as the physical content of the book, such as visual materials (e.g., photographs, illustrations, graphs) and the presence of scholarly apparatus (e.g., table of contents, index, bibliography, footnotes, endnotes, credit for visual materials);
g.indicate the intended readership of the book and whether the author succeeds in engaging the audience on the appropriate level.
h. paper length 5 pages (minimum), 8 pages maximum (does not include footnotes, bibliography, title page, etc.).
For the worldview analysis section of the paper, the following elements should be included:
b. give some examples of the Christian Worldview and two other worldviews on at least one important issue in our time (e.g., abortion, criminal justice, limited government, inalienable rights).
For the application section, you will:
a. include how you would apply Institutional Learning Outcome 5 (ILO 5) and the SDC Value of Identity in your future considering what you learned.
