Pick something you are interested in in aerospace structures. Apply the concepts and analysis methods to this structure.
You must submit a type-written, 1 page project proposal by 4/4. The project report must be submitted by the beginning of class on 4/25. The report will be of sufficient length and content to clearly, concisely and completely communicate what you did, how you did it and why you did it.
You are strongly encouraged to discuss your idea with the instructor and TA. The more feedback you get, the more likely you are to meet or exceed expectations.
Grading
The project must represent effort and understanding at least equivalent to that of an exam, in quality and quantity. The project will be evaluated on at least the following criteria:
• Accuracy
• Relevance to aerospace structures
• Quality of work
• Quality of presentation (see below)
The deliverable of the project will consist of a report. Included in the report must be:
• Introduction to and statement of the problem
• Analysis methods
• Conclusions
• Relevance to aircraft structures
The report will include all necessary figures, tables, equations and explanations to understand the problem, analysis and your conclusions. An appendix may include detailed calculations, calculation scripts…
Methods and concepts from AAE 352 must be used in this project
The project challenges you to specify an engineering problem from a broad real-world situation, accurately set-up and solve the problem, interpret the specific results of the problem to understanding of the real-world situation, and communicate each of the above clearly and concisely.
