– Essay must be at least 700 words long, not including bibliography or footnotes. – Must be done in font size 12 in Times New Roman style, double spaced, with normal margins. – You must use PRIMARY SOURCES to support your view. These can be written or visual, like newspaper articles, old books, pictures or paintings, etc. – You must use and cite SECONDARY bibliography to support your essay (books and at least one journal article). These as well as the primary sources MUST use the MLA style for references and must be FOOTNOTES, not endnotes. – You must include a bibliography of the material you use at the end of the essay, as a separate section. – The footnotes and the bibliography DO NOT COUNT WITH RESPECT TO THE WORD LIMIT OF THE ESSAY. This means that it is the CONTENT ONLY that counts as the 700 word limit. -Each sheet of paper must have your name and student ID in the header or footer of the paper. -The essay will be graded on four different ways, each item is worth 25%, graded individually. The final grade is the average of the four items. They are the following: a) treatment of assigned topics, b) grammar and spelling, c) organization of material, and d) bibliography and use of primary sources.
