In Assessment Task 1, students will be presented with a contemporary public health policy and or
proposed legislative changes (food labelling, electronic health record, plain packaging of cigarettes, and
childhood immunization) that are likely to impact on the health and wellbeing of the Australian /
international population.
This analysis will focus on underlying political/stakeholder interests, evidence used in the analysis,
assessment of strengths and weaknesses of the proposed changes, alternative options, implementation
issues and comment on likely impacts of the policy on the group that the NGO represents.
Students will present their policy analysis in the form of an open letter from their NGO,
advocating their position on the proposed policy and legislative changes.
