Kozol essay summary

Write a summary of the most important points in the essay without looking at the text to measure your comprehension of the text
Verify that what you’ve written is accurate and not repetitive and not the author’s words
Draft a formal essay that presents the author’s main points with an introductory paragraph that names the author, his or her essay’s title, and the main point of the essay, followed by paragraphs that present the minor points which the author uses to support the main point, followed by the conclusion the author makes about the main point, all in your own words
Edit the essay for sentence clarity, for transition between elements (both sentences and paragraphs), for overall coherence, and to remove editorial commentary ( “I think that what he means is . . .”, “but, of course, she is wrong about that”, “and, boy , this essay was very difficult to read, and I’m not sure I understood it” (which are examples of scaffolding for your personal understanding but not appropriate for your final draft)
Polish spelling, punctuation, verb tense (use present tense when discussing literary texts), formal usage, etc.
